Be swept away by the world’s top ocean films

-

CALLING all ocean lovers! The annual Ocean Film Festival is preparing to set sail again — and is heading our way.

The celebration of all things aquatic is sweeping towards Cork and Dublin with a brand new selection of the world’s most amazing ocean movies, from both above and below the waves.

Brought to you by the team behind the Banff Film Festival UK Tour, this collection of short films celebrates divers, paddlers, surfers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray. Audiences are sure to be wowed by the mind-blowing marine life, exhilarated by the power of the waves and inspired by the characters who dedicate their lives to answering the call of the ocean.

Their exploits are captured in seven films — The Big Wave Project, Touched By The Ocean, Blue, Scarlet’s Tale, Kiwi Breeze, One Breath and Adventure Is Calling — ranging in length from four to 32 minutes and are all rated 12A.

The subject matter covers everything from the tale of rowing newbies Karlis and Gints who aim to become the first team to cross the South Atlantic Ocean to how an unlikely friendship grew between a South African athlete and a Great White Shark with the unlikely name of Scarlet.

The first night will be staged in Dublin’s National Concert Hall on Thursday September 13 before the production travels to Cork’s Everyman Theatre for the following night. There’s also a free prize giveaway of ocean-related goodies at each screening.

Tickets at €15 and €13 for concessions are available fromoceanfilm festival.co.uk
