IN the first of a new series marking the 250th anniversar­y of Captain Cook’s departure on his first Pacific voyage, James Fox (pictured) is knocked out by the art he finds etched into rocks in the wilds of Australia. It’s not just the quality he finds amazing, but the fact that indigenous peoples have been making this art there for millennia.

TIME TRAVELLER Future Man, 10pm, SyFy

JOSH (Josh Hutcherson, pictured with Eliza Coupe) is a video game obsessive who finds all his dedication finally rewarded when two game characters turn out to be real and need him to save humanity. Like the film Ready Player One, but with a smaller budget and a much bigger sense of humour, this new US series hops around in time and is a lot of fun.

COLD WAR THRILLER The Assets, 10pm, Alibi

JODIE Whittaker, the new Doctor Who, plays a CIA officer in this new US series. It’s based on a non-fiction book co-written by Whittaker’s character, but feels undercooke­d when compared to the likes of The Americans. That said, it is only eight parts long and tells a nice, contained story. Continues nightly.

ON-DEMAND MOVIE Entebbe, Sky Store

UNCONVENTI­ONAL, interestin­g take on the operation to rescue hostages held by Palestinia­n and German terrorists in 1976, starring Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl.

COMEDY DRAMA The Disaster Artist, 10pm, Sky Premiere

JAMES Franco directs the story of the making of cult 2003 film The Room, which is widely considered to be the worst ever made. Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, the crazy, strange writerdire­ctorproduc­er-star behind cinema’s most celebrated turkey.
