Vogue defends going back to work... just eight days after her baby was born

- Irish Daily Mail Reporter news@dailymail.ie

VOGUE Williams has defended her choice to return to work just days after welcoming her first child with husband Spencer Matthews.

The presenter, 32, gave birth to a baby boy on September 5 and shared an update with her followers that she had ‘work today’, just over a week after her son arrived.

The Howth native also posted videos of herself thanking her ‘glam squad’ for her hair and make-up, which appeared to draw the ire of some of her fans.

Her ‘dream team’ included London-based Irish hair stylist Matthew Feeney, who posted a photo of her captioned ‘can’t believe you had a baby a week ago’.

But she reassured followers she had a lot of help, replying ‘oh god

I get no maternity leave in this job

I’m definitely tired!’ and that her ‘panda eyes look half shut most of the time! That’s a whole lot of hair and make up right there’.

Hitting back at criticism, the Vogue Does… and On The Edge star said it had been her choice and that she only took part in one shoot in her London home, urging followers not to ‘parent shame’ her.

She wrote: ‘So many messages about going back to work yesterday.

‘1. It’s my choice and I feel happy to.

‘2. I’m not fully back to work yet. It was one shoot.

‘3. I only intend on taking jobs where I can have my baby with me as I’m breastfeeding so we shall be glued together for the next few months.

‘4. I don’t get maternity leave in my job so I’ll obviously be going back sooner than others.

‘5. Let’s not start the parent shaming already. He’s eight days old and a VERY happy loved baby.’ Vogue, who studied quantity surveying at the Dublin Institute of Technology, married former Made In Chelsea star Spencer in a romantic ceremony in the Scottish Highlands in June.

Spencer is Vogue’s second husband.

She was married to former Westlife singer Brian McFadden for three years.

Recently she gushed over her marriage to one-time bad boy Spencer, admitting that the couple are ‘delighted’ with themselves.

On this week’s Vogue: Is Monogamy Dead? on RTÉ2, she also gushed about her husband and her commitment to marriage.

Vogue joked that she has accepted the fact her son will have an English accent.

She cheekily added that you can get away with a lot more with an Irish accent.

The couple’s ‘beautiful and healthy’ baby boy was born nine days ago at 3.55am in a ‘quiet London hospital’, Vogue announced on Instagram. The pair, who have yet to disclose the baby’s name, were inundated with well wishes from their delighted followers and celebrity friends.
