Keith Duffy and son Jay

KEITH Duffy has had a lot more success with his acting ventures than fellow Boyzone member Ronan, having bagged a role in Coronation Street as charming Irish chef Ciaran McCarthy.

And it seems those set visits to Granada Studios as a child were what got Keith’s son Jay hooked on acting too.

Now 22, Jay has had roles in Vikings and the John Butler film Handsome Devil, as well as working for two years in the Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks playing Declan Brady.

And dad Keith couldn’t be more proud. ‘He’s very into the arts and his acting career, projecting a writer’s work onto stage or the screen,’ Keith has said of his son. ‘He’s not doing it to be famous, he shies away from it.’

Jay for his part, says he wants to be known as Jay Duffy the actor rather than Keith Duffy’s son. He has said: ‘‘I’m very lucky to have my father and I probably wouldn’t be where I am without him, but I think it’s my own work that has gotten me here as well.’
