Rugby legend BOD is Finding Joy as try-out in wife’s new comedy show

-

BRIAN O’Driscoll is to make his acting debut in his wife’s new comedy series, Finding Joy. Amy Huberman has fulfilled a lifelong dream bringing the show, which she wrote herself, to fruition.

And now the actress has revealed her comedy, which made Nicky Byrne ‘belly laugh’, will feature her rugby hero husband, pictured right with Amy. Other famous friends of Amy’s who appear in the production include Aisling Bea, Laura Whitmore, Jennifer Rainsford and James Kavanagh.

Amy told 2fm’s Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene that Brian’s acting debut is ‘a really small little thing’.

‘He said that he’d be happy to come on and do it,’ the mother of two, pictured below on her show with co-star Hannah Scott, revealed on air.

But there’s no hope of the former Irish rugby captain, 39, stealing his wife’s limelight, as she said of his acting debut: ‘Blink and you’ll miss it.’

The fleeting nature of his performance was part of the fun, she said, adding: ‘We were actually hoping that people go, “Is that [Brian]?!”’

The couple married in 2010 but this will be the first time their worlds of work have collided.

Jenny got a sneak peak of the show and sang its praises to her listeners, saying: ‘This isn’t just a good Irish comedy, this is a great comedy.’

Making sure the six-part series was ‘not stereotypical’ was important to the accomplished actress as it will be aired on Acorn TV in America, as well as RTÉ One. But she admitted writing it wasn’t easy as she had a ‘busy year’ juggling projects.

The 39-year-old said acting and writing require ‘very different energies’ and that she likes to keep them separate as a result. She explained: ‘I was filming Cold Feet in Manchester and I’m not great if I’m filming and writing as well. I find the days are too long and I need to really commit to [writing], and have a life in between. I’m tired! I think that’s just getting old as well.’

Finding Joy follows a woman thrust into the limelight on social media as she gets over a break-up. It starts on RTÉ One at 9.35pm tomorrow.
