A charitable fiction?

WE are, according to ourselves, the most generous country in Europe, with 64% of those surveyed saying they had helped a stranger in the past month and two-thirds saying they donate money to charity.

Well, let’s just hope, in the light of such impressive findings, that we are, as a people, every bit as truthful as we are apparently generous.
