Ex-Bangladesh PM locked up
FORMER Bangladeshi prime minister Khaleda Zia has been sentenced to seven years in jail.
Zia, 73, pictured, the leader of the country’s opposition, had been found guilty of misusing her power to collect money for a charity named after her late husband Ziaur Rahman.
Her supporters see multiple criminal cases against her and her Bangladesh Nationalist Party as attempts to weaken the opposition ahead of elections expected in December.
