Pair ‘stabbed Irish granny to death in her own home’
TWO Londoners stabbed an Irish grandmother to death at her home after a night out drinking together, a court in England has heard.
Lucy Casey, 43, and James Whitaker, 29, allegedly knifed 55-year-old Hannah Leonard – who was born in Co. Cork – in the face, neck, chest and stomach in her apartment in Camden, northwest London, on February 5 of this year.
Ms Casey’s blood was allegedly found on the kitchen knife used in the attack and she left her jacket at the scene with her ID in the pocket, the Old Bailey heard.
Prosecutor Sarah Whitehouse, QC, said there ‘does not appear to be any dispute that Hannah Leonard was killed’ while she was in the company of the two accused.
‘The question for you to consider would appear to be what part, if any, each of them played in the attack which killed Hannah Leonard,’ she told the jury. Ms Casey, of Claire Court, Shoot Up Hill, Kilburn, and Mr Whitaker, of Chamberlayne Road, Kensal Rise, both deny murder. The trial continues.
