FOR the first time in its history, the iconic Chanel No 5 bottle has been reimagined in Mademoiselle Chanel’s favourite colour — red.

The limited-edition scarlet bottle of the world’s most famous scent goes on sale this week (€150 for the 100ml eau de parfum, chanel.com), and is a must-have for fragrance collectors and fans alike.

Red was one of the few colours designer Coco Chanel wanted to dress women in — she called it ‘the colour of life, the colour of blood’. For the seriously rich, there are also 55 numbered ruby red Baccarat crystal bottles of the 900ml No 5 Grand Extrait available at an eyewatering €28,000 each.
