Driver used bogus no claims cert

-

A MOTORIST has admitted using a fake no claims bonus certificate to get cheaper car insurance.

Valdemar Kosman, 36, originally from Russia and now of St Peter’s Road, Walkinstown, Dublin, was fined €100 for using the bogus certificate.

Kosman had three previous motoring convictions and paid someone €300 for the fake document, Dublin District Court heard.

The restaurant worker, who listened to the proceedings with the help of a Russian interpreter, admitted he knew the document was false when he tried to induce RSA Insurance Ireland to accept the document as genuine.

It happened at Dundrum Town Centre on June 16 last, Judge Ann Ryan was told.

An associate of Kosman had provided it for him after he paid €300, the solicitor said.

Pleading for leniency, she said her client worked three days a week.

Noting his guilty plea and his personal circumstances, Judge Ryan convicted him and fined him €100 which has to be paid within four months.
