VETERANS OF LEESIDE UNITE
THE prospects of two 37-yearolds in defensive harness in Cork City’s FAI Cup final team tomorrow is remote but Alan Bennett appreciates the benefits Damien Delaney has brought to the City camp. ‘If any Irish club is offered a Premier League player you are going to take him, you are going to snap his hand off and Damien coming back was brilliant,’ said Bennett. Bennett and Delaney, who were together at City as teenagers 20 years ago, have been deliberately kept apart by John Caulfield. ‘That sunk in with me after a while but did it feel like a blow? Honestly, no. it was a no brainer to take him in.’
