Gwynnie’s favourite wedding pressie? The gift of publicity
IT is only a few short weeks since I mentioned Gwyneth Paltrow’s wedding on this page. Though I didn’t remark upon this particular aspect of it at the time, the names on the guest list strongly suggested that most of her friends are celebrities as well.
I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised. The rich and famous have always gravitated towards each other regardless of
whether the only thing they have in common is, well, being rich and famous.
What is surprising, though, is how many stars are happy to share the most intimate information about their private lives on social media.
I find it difficult to understand why ordinary punters do it, but I’m completely baffled at the celebs following suit.
Following her nuptials to Brad Falchuk, Gwynnie has now posted photos of the big day on Instagram. There is a grand total of 48 snaps also available to view on her lifestyle website Goop.
Worse, there is a description of the proceedings that goes into excruciating details.
‘The revelry started the night before with a rehearsal dinner, where wedding guests dined al fresco under a canopy of bistro lights,’ it reads.
‘And for the big day: perfect weather, a superlative dinner, a dance party for the ages and a dress that defies superlatives. Hours later, when the last guest went home and the last champagne flute was cleared away, the day ended as it began – with beauty, love and two very happy people.’
At least it’s nice to know that they’re still together. I suppose we should be relieved that we didn’t get to hear what went on in the bridal suite.
