Trump hails ‘beautiful sight’ of barbed wire
DONALD Trump has described the first of 275 kilometres of barbed wire being erected along the US-Mexico border as a ‘beautiful sight’.
The US president was speaking as a caravan of 5,000 migrants from central America moved within 1,300 kilometres of the US.
Thousands of troops have been sent to put up the razor wire at weak points to stop them getting in, and at the weekend they could be seen carrying out Mr Trump’s orders in McAllen, Texas.
Ahead of mid-term elections tomorrow, Mr Trump spoke of a ‘crisis at the border’, telling voters: ‘If you don’t want America to be overrun by masses of illegal aliens and giant caravans you better vote Republican.’
He renewed his attacks at a rally in Montana, saying: ‘These are bad people. Bad hombres.
‘I noticed all that beautiful barbed wire going up today. Barbed wire, used properly, can be a beautiful sight.’
The caravan set out from Honduras a month ago, fleeing violence and unemployment, and has inspired two more convoys. Mr Trump made illegal immigration one of his main campaign promises and he spoke of building a wall along the border with Mexico.
