PARROCK’S STRIKE DECISIVE FOR WEXFORD

- JOHN FALLON

KATRINA PARROCK’s classy first-half goal claimed the silverware for Wexford Youths and secured a second treble in four years at Aviva Stadium. However, Peamount boss James O’Callaghan couldn’t hide his disappointment at a couple of rejected penalty claims for the losing side at the final whistle. Republic of Ireland international Amber Barrett had been involved in both calls either side of the break . ‘A lot of decisions didn’t go our way,’ said O’Callaghan. ‘The defeat is difficult on the girls because I thought we were the better team.’ For all the possession they enjoyed, however, Peas hardly threatened after Wexford had gone ahead. The winners had been poor in attack too, but Parrock’s moment of magic proved the difference. The winger, who has won four All-Ireland camogie medals for Wexford, showed good control before finishing off a move in which Emma Hansberry and Rianna Jarrett were prominent. Earlier, Wexford’s Edel Kennedy volleyed to the net but her effort was disallowed.
