Peaky Blinder Daryl tries out new fair city

- By Emer Scully

IRISH eyes were smiling as a former Fair City star made his Peaky Blinders debut in a cloudy and bleak Liverpool yesterday.

Daryl McCormack was seen leaning into the window of a classic car and sharing a joke with fellow Irish actor Aidan Gillen, 50, on the set. McCormack, 28 – who grew up in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, but now lives in London – previously played the role of Pierce Devlin on RTÉ soap Fair City.

He also featured in Referendum Commission adverts regarding the defeated Seanad referendum in 2013 – over which he faced racial abuse. Speaking about this at the time, his uncle Gary McCormack told the Herald: ‘Daryl will stand up against it.’

Gangster drama Peaky Blinders will move to BBC One for its fifth season in 2019 after it became a huge success on BBC Two.
