Four new faces for Irish women’s clash with USA

-

÷IRELAND women’s coach Adam Griggs has included four new caps in his squad to face USA in Donnybrook on Sunday. Ciara Griffin will captain the side from the back row, while two uncapped players are named in the back three; full-back Lauren Delany and winger Laura Sheehan. Among the replacements, hooker Emma Hooban and back Beibhinn Parsons will be looking to win their first caps. Parsons would become the youngest player to wear the green jersey in an international as she won’t be 17 until later this month. Irish Rugby TV will stream the game live on YouTube.com/ Irish Rugby TV and at irishrugby.ie. IRELAND (v USA, Energia Park, Sunday 1pm): L Delany; E Considine, S Naoupu, M Claffey, L Sheehan; N Caughey, A Hughes; L Peat, S Mimnagh, F Reidy; A McDermott, C Cooney (capt); E McMahon, C Molloy, C Griffin.

Reps: E Hooban, L Feely, L Lyons, N Fryday, J Deacon, N Cronin, C McLaughlin, B Parsons. ÷GEORGE KRUIS has been ruled out of England’s last two matches this autumn because of a calf injury sustained against New Zealand on Saturday. Kruis was replaced by Charlie Ewels in the 66th minute of the 16-15 defeat at Twickenham and will not play any part in the remaining internationals against Japan and Australia. It is a bitter blow to the Saracens lock, who has impressed so far this autumn, not least for his expertise as a lineout caller — a role that will now be performed by Maro Itoje or Ewels. Itoje, Ewels, Elliott Stooke and Courtney Lawes are the second rows included in the 30-man squad that assembled at England’s Surrey training base yesterday afternoon to begin their preparations for the visit of Japan.
