Mel’s fears for mental health over Spice Girls tour

-

MEL C has revealed that she worried the Spice Girls reunion could ‘make her sick again’ as she details her past struggles with depression and an eating disorder.

The singer, 44, is set to join fellow bandmates Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Horner, on a tour in 2019 – including Croke Park in May – albeit without the fifth member Victoria Beckham.

Yet the Sporty Spice, right, has admitted her doubts over whether to join the girls on the road after suffering with her mental health during the group’s rise to super-stardom in the Nineties. Mel explained: ‘Towards the end of the Spice Girls, last time, I had a very difficult time personally. So going back into that environment I’ve had a lot of anxiety. I’ve had to think: “Am I putting myself in a dangerous environment. Am I going to get sick again?”’

The pop star added: ‘And I’ve had some wobbles. And I’ve gone no, I’m a lot older, we are all a lot older, I’ve got a gorgeous daughter.’

The singer told how she would be ‘really taking care’ of herself with the shows being very physical and the Spice Girls being ‘a lot older’. ‘I do see a therapist and talking is important. I am so glad people are talking more. It’s being OK with other people not liking you. Nobody’s perfect,’ the star explained. But she quipped: ‘I am going to be visiting my therapist a lot more.’

Explaining how she deals with her festering emotions, Mel said: ‘Sometimes I am really, really angry – someone can really p*** me off but I can’t face it: I hate confrontation. It just festers inside. Write it down even if you can’t face the person. Get it out the system.’
