It’s also a single lift away from skiing at 2,850 metres and offers easy access to the off-piste skiing that this region is famous for with great freeride terrain nearby at La Masse, Orelle and towards St Martin De Belleville.

Although conditions were snowy last weekend, we had a fantastic time thanks to Les Menuire’s 24hour opening weekend event which included fireworks, free concerts, night skiing, torchlit descents and special prices in local bars and restaurants.

By far the best way to celebrate the start of the season is with a big dump of snow though and we had great fun skiing powdery pistes of La Croisette with private ESF instructor Marcel Brocard.

When high winds closed the lifts, we relaxed in the comfort of Chalet Bramble and spent an afternoon in the local spa.

The only downside was having to leave Reberty just as the skies cleared, revealing fields of untouched powder that we wanted to dive straight into.

People sometimes complain about Les Menuire’s high-rise architecture but the resort has lots going for it.

It has as many beds as Val Thorens which means that it can cater for big groups.

It also has the biggest children’s ski school in France which means your little ones will learn to ski with instructors who know how to work with them.

If you’re planning a January ski holiday, Powder N Shine have offers from €549 per person and two-for-one lift passes on January 5, 12 and 19th. Visit www.powdernshine.com

Before I go, Meribel in the Three Valleys was the snowiest place in the Alps this week.
