FASHION VERDICT

-

AS a display of sisterly love and support, it was hard to beat. Whatever the rumours of a rift between Meghan and Kate, if their festive fashion choices are anything to go by they are singing from the same hymn sheet.

They arrived at church wearing outfits that were as elegant as they were co-ordinated.

They didn’t just look stylish, they looked like girlfriends who had a conference call before the big day to ensure they complemented each other beautifully, from colours to shapes.

While they worked well together, the outfits weren’t too matching, each duchess choosing very different cuts and designs to suit their taste – and accommodate Meghan’s growing baby bump.

Kate stuck to a conventional label much loved by the royals, Catherine Walker, which could have cost up to €4,000.

The bespoke rich red dress coat was the perfect choice for Christmas Day.

The velvet detailing on the lapels, pockets and cuffs gave Kate’s tailored coat a luxurious Yuletide look, while the doublebreasted design pulled her in at the waist.

She went for €560 Gianvitto Rossi court shoes, and completed the look with a simple pill-box hat and matching burgundy gloves and clutch bag.

The whole look could be seen as traditional by some. It certainly looked less contemporary than Meghan’s.

The Duchess of Sussex dressed head to toe in Victoria Beckham, who is rumoured to be a close friend. At €2,500 for the coat, €1,100 for the boots and €1,300 for the power-box bag, we hope she was offered mates’ rates. Her striking hat with feather detail set off the look.
