CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS... AND CONSEQUENCES

-

‘TAXI had his light on, no-one in taxi, I hailed it and he pulled in. As I went to open the door, he asked where I was going, I told him and he just turned his head and drove off, leaving us standing looking for a taxi at this late time of night.’

CONSEQUENCE: Caution issued to driver. ‘TAXI stopped for me, I sat in, and he asked me where I was going. He said it’ll be €17. I told him it’s not, the meter will tell him how much it is, he claimed the meter isn’t working tonight and that he’s estimating prices himself.’ CONSEQUENCE: Fixed payment notice. ‘AS we sat into the car, we noticed that the clock already had a meter reading of €5.20. That was before the car had even pulled out. We questioned it with the driver and he started shouting at us to get out of the car, that we were wasting his time.’

CONSEQUENCE: Fixed payment notice. ‘THE car was in bad condition, all the lights were on in [dash] board like “check engine light” and others, the car was making strange noises and inside was very dirty... it had an extremely bad smell of cigarettes.’

CONSEQUENCE: Advice given to licence holder and vehicle underwent repairs immediately after incident. ‘THERE was a bad odour in the taxi. My friend realised her trousers were wet. We asked driver to pull over. We both got out of the taxi and went across the road to the taxi rank. He got out of the taxi and checked the rear seat.’ CONSEQUENCE: Not proceeded with – no response from complainant when contacted.
