FAMILY FAVOURITE The Midnight Gang, 7.30pm, BBC1

THIS year’s David Walliams adaptation – in which the comedian stars alongside Haydn Gwynne (pictured) – is the story of a boy called Tom, who is hit on the head by a cricket ball and ends up in hospital. There, he discovers a secret gang of children who embark on midnight adventures in the hospital, and make dreams come true.

WARM TRIBUTE Ken Dodd: How Tickled We Were, 9pm, BBC2

A FABULOUS celebratio­n of the life of Knotty’s Ash’s most famous resident. The Liverpool native, who died aged 90 in March, was a mainstay of light entertainm­ent for six decades. His story is told in his own words, with testimony from friends, family (including wife Anne) and some of the biggest names in showbusine­ss.

QUESTION master Jimmy Carr is joined by Noel Fielding, Mo Gilligan, Richard Ayoade, David Mitchell, Claudia Winkleman and Michelle Wolf (pictured) as they battle it out to see who can remember most about the year’s biggest events – and they certainly won’t be short of material. It’s rude, crude and very funny.
