Two shot in pizza shop robbery
TWO men remain in custody following a shooting incident at a Dublin fast-food restaurant in which two other men received gunshot wounds.
Two men working at the Mizzoni’s Pizza outlet received gunshot wounds during the attack. They are aged 28 and 38.
A man entered the takeaway alone, armed with what has been described as a handgun, and is understood to have demanded cash and fired several shots.
The incident happened at the Edenmore Shopping Centre in Coolock, north Dublin, just after midnight on New Year’s Eve.
The victims were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It is believed they received injuries to their chest and
‘Not believed to be linked to feuds’
abdomen.
The Irish Daily Mail understands that the gunman fled the scene without any cash.
Following the incident, gardaí arrested a 44-year-old man and an 18-year-old man.
They were detained at Coolock and Raheny Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939.
They remained in custody last night at Coolock and Raheny Garda stations where they can be held for up to 72 hours.
A spokesman for the gardaí told the Mail: ‘The incident took place at Mizzoni’s Pizza in the Edenmore Shopping Centre in Coolock at about 12.20am on New Year’s Day. The men who received gunshot injuries remain in hospital but are in a stable condition.
‘The two men who were arrested can be questioned for the next 72 hours. We believe it was an opportunist crime and not linked to any feuds,’ said the Garda spokesman.
