‘Suicide texts caused death’
A US court has upheld the involuntary manslaughter conviction of a woman who encouraged her boyfriend to kill himself in dozens of text messages.
The Supreme Judicial Court in Massachusetts said Michelle Carter, pictured, caused the suicide of 18-year-old Conrad Roy III when she told him to get back in a truck filled with toxic gas in 2014.
Carter, then 17, was sentenced to 15 months in jail, but has remained free while she pursues her appeals.
