First Jehovah’s Witness jailed
A COURT in western Russia has sentenced a Danish Jehovah’s Witness to six years in prison.
Dennis Christensen, who was leading the local Bible reading, was found guilty of extremism – making him the first Jehovah’s Witness in Russia to have been jailed.
Russia officially banned Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2017 and declared them an extremist organisation.
Nearly 100 members of the religious group face charges, and more than 20 are in jail awaiting trial.
