France recalls envoy from Italy
FRANCE is recalling its ambassador to Italy as relations between the two countries sink to an ‘unprecedented’ low – the worst since World War II.
The moves after Italian deputy premier Luigi Di Maio of the popular Five Star Movement met members of the ‘yellow-vest’ protest campaign near Paris on Tuesday.
France told Mr Di Maio not to interfere in its politics but he says he wants voters to back far-right leader Marine Le Pen against President Emmanuel Macron in May’s European elections.
