Police given Salah evidence

- By TOM FARMERY

WEST HAM have handed evidence to the Metropolitan Police as they investigate the racist abuse aimed at Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Video footage from a supporter at the London Stadium on Monday night caught a man in the home end shouting at the 26-year-old Egyptian: ‘Salah, you f***ing Muslim, f***ing Muslim c***. F*** off.’ It has also been claimed that Salah was called a ‘terrorist’ during the Premier League match. West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini yesterday called for those responsible to be banned. ‘That cannot happen in the stadium,’ said the Chilean. ‘The best way to manage those things out of the game is to remove them from the great spectacle that is the Premier League. We must have high standards and when this happens, you must take action. The club cannot accept these kind of things in the game. These people must be punished as soon as we can.’ West Ham added in a statement: ‘The club is unequivocal in its stance — such abuse will not be tolerated. There is no place or excuse for this kind of behaviour.’
