Woman dies and passengers injured as car veers off road
GARDAÍ are investigating after a woman in her 60s died and two girls were injured when their car veered off a road and crashed into a ditch.
The single-vehicle collision occurred at 3.30pm yesterday at Ardpatrick, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick.
Two female passengers, aged 16 and seven, ‘received minor injuries and were taken to University Hospital Limerick for examination,’ a Garda spokeswoman said.
The body of the deceased was yesterday taken to the mortuary of University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem will be carried out.
Kilmallock gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Meanwhile, a man died following a collision between a van and a truck yesterday on the N30 at Ballymackesy near Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, at around 7.25am.
The driver of the van, aged in his 50s, died. He was taken to University Hospital in Waterford where a post mortem is due to take place. The truck driver was not injured.
