MORGAN SPICED!
NIALL MORGAN is a fine footballer who happens to keep goals for Tyrone. For the second week in a row, his skills made headlines. Just as he did against Mayo in Omagh, Morgan sallied up the field to hoist over a brilliant point against Roscommon in Hyde Park. His intervention has been required because Tyrone’s play has been deficient, suffering from a lack of imagination but also a desperate lack of quality. Mickey Harte (below) will contend otherwise, but Tyrone are struggling. They battled their way to an All-Ireland final last September and a bright start against Dublin has rather obscured the fact that the Dubs eventually dealt with them as comprehensively as they had in a semi-final 12 months earlier. Tyrone’s tactics are not brave enough to win an All Ireland, and a scrambled point in contentious circumstances in the Hyde will not mask the fact that they look one-paced. Harte is used to hearing that he has stayed on too long. Those accusations will inevitably follow their poor form of this spring so far.
