Cantwell’s RTÉ rise a blow for Brolly’s folly
JOANNE CANTWELL has been a terrific addition to RTÉ’s GAA coverage. Her refusal to let Joe Brolly scatter broad claims created a stir on the first weekend of the League. But she was just as forensic with Tomás Ó Sé when he claimed that there hadn’t been a serious blow in the row that marred the end of the Kerry Dublin match. That is precisely what analysis of Gaelic games required on the national broadcaster. For too long easy consensus was the way, allowing big and occasionally ludicrous statements to go unchecked. That won’t happen with Cantwell (above) chairing the debate, and the coverage will benefit accordingly. Her ascension to the job is already a success.
