HOW TO SPEND THAT WINDFALL

-

CARIBBEAN ISLAND

A NUMBER of National Lottery adverts over the years have featured an Irish Euromillions winner on a beautiful sunny beach, with the story of this lucky winner buying an ‘Island for Ireland’. Cave Cay, an island in the Bahamas, is currently priced at €53million on Private Islands Inc. and would make an ideal spot for a winter getaway.

PRIVATE JET

A Gulfstream G550 private jet, which can transport up to 19 people, will set the Euromillions winners back €53.7 million. It can fly non-stop for more than 12 hours and has sleeping accommodation for eight passengers.

YACHT

Although the lucky winners may be €175million richer, they are still not in the same league as some of the richest folk in the world. One Arab sheikh, for example, currently owns the biggest superyacht in the world. The floating palace measures 590ft and cost €530 million to build. The previous record was held by Russian billionaire and Chelsea FC owner, Roman Abramovich whose yacht Eclipse measured 533ft. A more modest yacht, such as the Westport 130, would set you back €23million.

CHAMPAGNE

The 2013 Taste of Diamonds – a blend of Grand Cru, Pinot Noir Meunier and Chardonnay – is the world’s most expensive champagne, with a dizzying €1.5million price tag.

NICE HOTEL STAY

The Royal Penthouse Suite in the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva covers the entire eighth floor of the hotel and costs around €70,000 a night.
