She Gwyns and bares it as SNL pokes fun at Goop

-

JUST hours after hosting the Goop Health Summit in New York City, Gwyneth Paltrow made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during a comedy skit.

The Weekend Update sketch started out being about the summit itself, showing featured SNL star Heidi Gardner playing bumbling Goop representative Baskin Johns, who had tons of trouble describing the products sold by the brand.

After she makes it clear that if she screws up again Paltrow will fire her, she calls in her supervisor Fifer James, played by Paltrow, 46, left, herself. The sketch begins with Baskin trying to explain the new Goop body wash, which is infused with ginger and something called ‘oshuwaganda’, which Baskin has trouble describing.

A frazzled Baskin claims that oshuwaganda comes from Wakanda, the fictional African country from Black Panther, before admitting that she can’t screw up again.

Her second strike means she has to move to Missouri, work at a Bed Bath & Beyond and grow out her roots.

To help her out, she asks Weekend Update co-host Michael Che if she can bring out Fifer James because she’s ‘really afraid that Gwyneth is gonna fire me’.

Fifer responds that Paltrow, ‘doesn’t believe in firing – remember, it’s conscious unemploying’, a reference to her ‘conscious uncoupling’ from ex-husband Chris Martin.

Then when Che asks what Goop even stands for, Baskin and Fifer simultaneously respond with: ‘Gwyneth Opens Our Paychecks.’

The sketch ends with Baskin and Fifer crossing their arms like in Black Panther, proclaiming: ‘Oshuwaganda forever!’
