CLIFFORD AMONG KINGDOM’S SUBS

- By MARK GALLAGHER

DAVID CLIFFORD has been named on Kerry’s bench for tonight’s Division 1 clash with Mayo in Austin Stack Park. Former Footballer of the year James O’Donoghue joins Clifford on the bench as Keane makes two changes from the team that eked out a win over Monaghan. Tadhg Morley returns from injury to replace Jack Sherwood at fullback while Brian Kelly takes Shane Ryan’s place in goals. Mayo boss James Horan has made three changes to the side that lost to Galway. Michael Plunkett, Conor Loftus and Kevin McLoughlin all come into the team in place of Lee Keegan, Colm Boyle and Darren Coen. Mickey Harte has named an unchanged team from that which beat Cavan for tonight’s clash with Dublin in Croke Park. Hugh Pat McGeary, Frank Burns, Ben McDonnell and Richie Donnelly are the only four starters who didn’t start the All-Ireland final. Chris Crummey and goalkeeper Alan Nolan return for the Dublin hurlers, two of six changes for their trip to Semple Stadium to meet Tipperary while Liam Sheedy has kept the faith with the starting team that trounced Cork.

Brian Cody is experimenting for Kilkenny’s clash with Cork. Niall Brassil starts in the full-forward line with Richie Hogan. Paddy Deegan is in at full-back.
