Spice Girl misses tour rehearsals after that Geri ‘affair’ furore
AFTER all those ‘hurtful’ claims about a lesbian fling, there were fears that Geri Horner might pull out of the upcoming Spice Girls tour.
But as show rehearsals began yesterday, it was Melanie Brown – the source of the storm – who was missing.
Ginger Spice Ms Horner, 46, wearing a white leather biker jacket and matching top, was first to arrive at dance studios in London with her daughter Bluebell, 12, by her side.
She was followed by Baby Spice Emma Bunton, 43, who wore a pair of funky heart-emblazoned sunglasses and tracksuit.
They were joined by casually dressed Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm, 45, wearing a €170 hoodie and obligatory shades. A representative for Scary Spice Mel B said the Los Angelesbased star is ‘completing work commitments in America’ and will join her bandmates in London.
It is easy to see why she might have wanted to avoid a confrontation with Ms Horner.
Having alleged they had a lesbian affair in the 1990s at the height of the group’s fame, tensions between the two have been running high.
Last month Ms Brown appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and was asked: ‘Did you sleep with Geri?’ Mel B replied: ‘She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in a country house but it wasn’t a “thing’”. It just happened, we just giggled at it and that was it.’
With their tour – which kicks off at Dublin’s Croke Park on May 24 – in doubt, Mel B, 43, backtracked a few days later on an Australian radio show. She said: ‘I was on the phone with Geri. I said I admitted on Piers that we had a little thing so don’t worry about it... and it was pre your husband and pre your babies and mine.’
Ms Horner was clearly not amused. She issued a statement, denying the ‘disappointing’ reports which she said had been ‘hurtful’ to her family.
