Grant is on money for Bohs at Dalyer

- By DAVE DONNELLY

DANNY GRANT was the star man for Bohemians as he scored, set up another and won a penalty as they saw off UCD at Dalymount Park. Grant won the penalty that led to Dinny Corcoran’s opener late in the first half and teed up Conor Levingston for the second before finding the net himself. Victory looked an unlikely proposition for Bohs for much of the first half as an impressive UCD side dominated possession and created several clear chances. Keeper James Talbot had the crossbar to thank as Richie O’Farrell’s header just about missed the target. And the ex-Sunderland stopper pulled off a world class stop to turn Yoyo Mahdy’s goalbound effort onto the crossbar. The game turned two minutes before the break as Grant skinned Mark Dignam before drawing the foul from the fullback, and Corcoran sent Conor Kearns the wrong way from the spot. Levingston made it 2-0 six minutes after the break, showing good composure to hit Grant’s centre first-time past Kearns. And Grant got the goal he deserved shortly afterwards as Kearns could only turn Danny Mandroiu’s shot onto the post, and the 19year-old reacted first to force home the loose ball. BOHEMIANS: Talbot; Lyons, Barry, Finnerty, Leahy; Buckley (McCourt 76), Levingston, Mandroiu; Grant (Reghba 73), Devaney (Graydon 70), Corcoran. Scorers: Corcoran pen 44, Levingston 51, Grant 55. UCD: Kearns; Tobin, Scales, Collins, Dignam (Molloy 64); O’Neill, Doyle, O’Farrell; Farrugia, McClelland (McDonald 64), Mahdy (Davis 64). Referee: P Tuite (Dublin).
