Meanwhile in Canada, Meghan visits two women’s centres

MEGHAN MARKLE has made a whirlwind tour of women’s groups and other charities near her new Canadian bolthole.

Photos have appeared on social media showing her posing for pictures with volunteers at a women’s refuge and at a nearby feminist justice charity.

Both visits took place within a few hours of each other on Tuesday, and the photos show Meghan, 38, in virtually identical poses, and in the same outfit.

The duchess wore a cream cashmere jumper over dark trousers and boots as she posed with her arms around women at both centres in the city of Vancouver.

She spent an hour at the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre after her personal assistant sent an email asking if she could visit the group in a rundown area.

And she spent 90 minutes chatting with volunteers at the nearby Justice For Girls charity, after an aide told organisers she found their work ‘credible and compelling’ and wanted to learn more. Photos of the event only surfaced on social media on Wednesday.

Meghan’s decision to carry out visits in Vancouver appeared to be an attempt to silence her critics. The couple have said they no longer want mainstream media to cover their engagements, and instead will use social media to promote their activities.

Meghan left Archie with a nanny at their retreat on Vancouver Island for her impromptu visits.

One photograph on social media showed her with a notepad and pen as she chatted with an organiser at Justice For Girls, which campaigns for ‘climate justice’ and women’s rights.

Co-director Zoe CraigSparrow said they discussed her commitment to campaigning for gender equality.

She told the Harper’s Bazaar website: ‘We were struck by how engaged and informed she was, and how quickly and gracefully she put us at ease.’

The website said the visit was one of a series made by the duchess on Tuesday after her aide contacted women’s groups to ask about their work.

After her visit to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, a single photograph appeared on the centre’s Facebook page, captioned: ‘Look who we had tea with today!’
