Don curries favour

-

DONALD Trump cheered his critics by mangling the pronunciation of several Indian names and words on his visit to the Taj Mahal. I particularly enjoyed his referring to the ancient Hindu texts known as the Vedas as ‘vestas’. Obviously the popular 1970s boil-in-the-bag curries were a big hit in the Trump household as well.

I MUST confess I’m slightly salivating over the return of Ready Steady Cook next month. The show launched the career of several TV chefs before it was shelved in 2010 but for me, it was less a cookery aid than a lifeline at a time when I was surrounded by babies. I doubt I ever recreated a single recipe from my many afternoons staring glassily at the box – but for its tasty distraction between endless feeds and changes, I will be forever grateful to those red and green peppers.

DUE to the glut of fixtures remaining in the English Premier League, Liverpool’s earliest chance to secure their first title in 30 years will now fall earlier than previously anticipated, on March 22. The fact that the Sunday in question is also Mother’s Day should result in some decidedly distracted family lunches in pubs and restaurants all over the country.

SINCE I’ve been working on the show, I confess to a certain bias – but don’t miss the grand finale of Operation Transformation tonight. Not only does it feature our five inspirational leaders, but it also follows last weekend’s 5k run in the Phoenix Park. The OT 5k is a run for people who don’t and can’t run – it shouldn’t work, but it’s the most uplifting experience to witness and to be involved in. All the feels guaranteed!
