Companies get innovative to attract customers

- by PHILIP NOLAN

IT’S hard to see a silver lining in the current crisis we all face, but if there is one, it’s that car companies,— reeling from the shutdown in production and the near total collapse in sales — are coming up with all sorts of incentives to get you back into the showrooms.

Mitsubishi Motors is offering zero percent APR finance on the Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), and a free Wallbox Pulsar home charge point worth €800. The 2.4-litre model is the world’s bestselling plug-in hybrid, with a combined battery and petrol range of up to 600km, and a 45KM driving range on battery power alone. The Intense model is available from €40,400, the Instyle from €44,400 and the topline S-Edition from €48,250.

If you order a new Mitsubishi Space Star before July 31, you’ll get two years free road tax. The Intense five-speed manual is available from €15,595, and the Intense with continuous variable automatic transmission from €17,595.

There is finance of 2.9% APR hire purchase on a new L200 doublecab pick-up or a €2,000 trade-in booster on your current 4x4 when you purchase before July 31.

Pricing runs from the entry-level €35,000 to the Instyle automatic at €41,935. Passenger cars come with an eight-year warranty, while the L200 comes with five years, and all prices are exclusive of metallic paint, dealer and delivery charges.

MEANWHILE, on a practical level, Mazda is offering to bring demonstrator vehicles to your home to test drive and experience the award winning product range. The home test drive offering will be prioritised to the elderly, most at risk or less able to travel, but is open to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

Vehicles will be thoroughly sanitised between test drives, and measures have been implemented for contactless handovers to minimise risk of possible contamination. For the majority of customers that will still visit the showrooms, the Mazda retail network has also been reinforced with the appropriate safety and hygiene measures.

SEAT Ireland has a range of 202 sale offers, including 0% PCP finance available on all Ibiza, Leon, Arona, Ateca and Tarraco models. It is also offering customers an optional 3-month payment break for 0% PCP Finance plans in addition to a heavily discounted three-year service plan.

You also can download a €3,000 discount voucher on seat.ie for use with selected models. The

SEAT Ireland website allows for discounts of up to €3,000 on the Leon, and €1,000 on the Ibiza, Arona, Ateca and Tarraco. There is also a plan for customers who wish to opt for a scrappage offer, including 5.9% PCP finance starting from €209 per month as well as scrappage of up to €5,000 available on selected models across the SEAT range.

Nissan is offering a €3,000 scrappage scheme towards the cost of the award-winning Nissan Micra, the Juke or the zero emissions Nissan LEAF EV, and €4,000 towards the bestselling Qashqai and €5,000 towards the X-Trail. Similar discounts are available on the commercial fleet.

If you’re looking for a used car (and imports from the UK, already slowing down thanks to the NOx tax, will surely be wiped out for the foreseeable future because of Covid), Volkswagen are offering 4.9% APR on second-hand sales. There will also be a 110-point quality check on every used car, plus full vehicle reconditioning and sanitisation, one-year warranty and one-year roadside assist.

Special service plans are available for €14.99 per month when combined with a used car finance contract.
