Gwyneth markets her ‘orgasm’ candle
FOR couples trying to set the scene for a night of passion, candles often top the list.
They may, however, prefer something a little more subtle than Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest offering.
The actress has released another bizarre ‘wellbeing’ product – a candle she claims smells like an orgasm. Ms Paltrow, 47, is selling the $75 (€67) item – billed as ‘sexy, surprising and wildly addictive’ – on her Goop website.
It follows a string of other outlandish advice on the star’s site for women to steam their nether regions and insert jade eggs. Last month Goop launched a candle and said ‘smells like a vagina’.
A description of her latest offering reads: ‘A fitting follow-up to that candle – you know the one – this blend is made with tart grapefruit, neroli, and ripe cassis berries blended with gunpowder tea and Turkish rose absolutes.’
The candle is sold in a box emblazoned with fireworks. Promoting it on a US chat show, Ms Paltrow jokingly told host Jimmy Fallon: ‘It might be more for you to give to your wife.’
Speaking about why she decided to release her previous ‘vagina’ candle, which sold out when it went on sale in January, she told another talk show host: ‘I was like, “wouldn’t that be cool if somebody actually had the guts to do that?” What a punk-rock, feminist statement, to have that on your table.’
Her bizarre creations recently featured in The Goop Lab, a six-part Netflix series in which she tested a ‘vampire facial’ using a phial of her own blood.
The A-lister has been slated for peddling leftfield practices including using jade eggs to improve women’s genital health, an unsubstantiated claim that cost the company €110,000 after a lawsuit.
