GIVE UP ON BOTOX? NOT A CHANCE!

-

REBECCA TIDY, 33 is a politics lecturer, owns a fitness business and is a single mum to Mabel, two. Rebecca has saved £2,430 over the past three months and says:

AS LONG as I have money put away for emergencies, I feel I can spend what I like on personal grooming. And, totting up what I’ve saved during lockdown, I realise that really is rather a lot.

I have investment properties and that €2,000-plus a month could help buy more — but, still, I’m sure I’ll go back to doing it all again when I can.

I’d been thinking for ages I would stop all the treatments. However, being forced to do so has made me realise I actually don’t want to.

When I’m looking my best, seeing my reflection in a mirror makes me smile. These days I look so wild I avoid mirrors, or even going out in public — I’m too self-conscious.

Having missed two Juvederm lip filler appointments, my top lip has all but disappeared.

Some might think I don’t need Botox at my age, but I like to have it — in my forehead, frown lines and around my eyes — every nine or ten weeks, as it evens out my skin. It may mean I never get wrinkles.

I let my toddler paint my nails in different colours this week. She loved it — but I would never let her when I have costly Shellac treatments.

I haven’t even tried to do any of this grooming myself, not even my roots. These are jobs for professionals.

My ex commented on the fact I was, uncharacteristically, not wearing make-up, when I dropped our daughter off with him recently, but I haven’t really seen anyone else who would notice a change in my appearance.

Hopefully, the salons and clinics will be open long before all that begins again — and no one else will ever see the ‘real’ me’.
