Now the rabid online mob are killing off Eve

KILLING Eve actress Jodie Comer has become the latest victim of ‘cancel culture’ because she’s believed to be dating a US Republican voter. Despite her vocal support for LGBT rights and Black Lives Matter, the mere suspicion that Jodie (left) might befriend a supporter of Trump’s party (even if he’s among those Republicans who detests The Donald) is enough to rally the witch-burning mob. This week’s open letter by 150 writers and celebrities, including JK Rowling and our own John Banville, condemning this ‘vogue for public shaming’ is, sadly, likely to be a waste of ink.

DOES anyone else smell a rat over the whole ‘Ghislaine Maxwell arrest’ story? Supposedly, being one of the world’s most wanted women, she had unlimited resources at her disposal to buy a new identity, find a remote hideaway and disappear – you don’t even need an excuse to wear a mask passing through airport security anymore! And yet she ‘hid out’ in New Hampshire under the noses of the FBI? I suspect a deal has already been done, and Prince Andrew, like the rest of the powerful men in her circle, has no reason to sweat.
