THEY’RE TEENY, SO CAN’T WALK FAR

-

BELLE BOONROONG, 35, is a senior underwriting consultant. She lives with husband Chris, 36, who works in finance, and their three Pomeranian dogs Cedric, five, Kobe, four, and Bilbo, ten months. Belle says: POMERANIANS are cute but so small — our new puppy weighed just 900g when we got him — so they can’t walk very far. Luckily they all love being carried and I love it, too, although they can be very heavy if I’m carrying more than one! They’re my little babies.

Kobe is a bit of a mama’s boy and always wants to be as close to me as possible. He has a special bag called a Snuggit Sac, which goes across my body like a baby sling, and cost €90. Every time he sees me pick it up, he barks as if to say: ‘Hey don’t forget me!’

He doesn’t like sitting on the floor, so when we would go into a restaurant or bar he snuggles into the sling.

Cedric is a total diva and loves sitting in his Teddy Max bags, which are luxurious because of their lovely fleecy lining and cost €200. He has joint issues so it’s difficult for him to walk long distances, and when we go hiking we carry him in a special harness so he doesn’t miss out.

It cost just €20 and the reaction from everyone who sees him go by with his little paws hanging out is great. He likes the attention and being able to see what’s going on around him.

I don’t worry that our dogs will end up fat or unfit because I exercise them enough for their size.

Once, when I flew with Kobe to the US, a customs official looked at him in his sling and said: ‘Is that a real dog? He looks like a teddy bear!’
