It Cinks in, at last

-

AMERICAN Stewart Cink is such an affable bloke it always did feel wrong that he was lumbered with the millstone: ‘The man who killed the greatest sports story of all time.’ That was his victory in the 2009 Open, when he outlasted 59-year-old Tom Watson in a play-off. Cink, now 47, hadn’t won since that Turnberry triumph until the cards fell his way once more at the Safeway Open in California on Sunday. ‘I had come to terms with the fact I might never win again but it wasn’t something I was settled or content with,’ he said. Good for him. Finally, a Cink victory that we can all enjoy.
