PEP LINES UP £87m ATLETICO DEFENDER

MANCHESTER CITY are considering a move for Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez as Pep Guardiola looks to sign another defender before the transfer window closes. City have been strongly linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly but Gimenez, 25, is also on the list of targets with Guardiola keen to add a right-footed centre back after signing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth for £41m. Reports in Spain yesterday claimed that City have had an £87million bid rejected by Atletico. However, City have not made an offer for Gimenez (below) or Koulibaly, and would not be prepared to pay that much for the Uruguayan, let alone the £110m buyout clause in his contract. ÷ARSENAL midfielder Lucas Torreira continues to attract offers from Torino and Fiorentina. Arsenal leftback Sead Kolasinac is an option for WEST HAM, who still want BURNLEY centreback James Tarkowski.
