Sister vows to fight on for family

-

KATHLEEN Bergin has finally accepted the agonising reality that her sister, Jo Jo Dullard, was murdered.

Speaking in Newbridge, in Co. Kildare, yesterday, a tearful Ms Bergin said she has never given up hope that one day the person responsible for the death of Jo Jo Dullard will come forward.

Ms Bergin, who said that her parents and two of her siblings who campaigned to find Jo Jo’s disappearance are now deceased, said she would fight on in their honour to get answers,

She said that her greatest desire is to lay her sister to rest with her mother and father, along with her two recently deceased siblings, Mary and Tom.

‘After all these years we have known in our hearts and accepted that Jo Jo is not alive,’ she said.

‘We are hopeful that the team will be able to move this case along further and maybe, please God, find answers to our questions. They are doing everything they can to find Jo Jo. We have a good team on this case. Please find it in your heart to come forward. Jo Jo was on her way home that night and her journey was cut short and she did not deserve what happened to her that night. You can help Jo Jo finish that journey and bring her home to us and lay her to rest beside Mam and Dad.’

Ms Bergin urged anyone who has previously not given information over any fears they may have that they should let An Garda Síochána know now.

‘Please believe us when we say we just want to have Jo Jo brought home. You will not be judged,’ she said. ‘No matter how small that piece of information you have, please bring it forward [to] the team that are working on our case and let them decide. Please find it in your heart to come forward.’ She added her siblings did not get closure before they died. ‘Poor Mary poured her heart and soul into trying to find out what happened and she campaigned tirelessly even up until the last moments of her life. It’s heartbreaking to know that they both left this world without answers.’
