WE can expect a Christmas like no other – so having a tasty festive treat to hand should help somewhat.

However,McVi tie’ slat est Christmassy concoctions may divide purist biscuit lovers.

As part of its festive range, McVitie’s pledged to deliver the taste of Christmas – and it has certainly stepped up to the biscuit plate in terms of creativity.

In what could be described as a Yuletide Frankenstein of treats, it has mixed its famous Chocolate Digestives with the hallowed Christmas pudding.

Its other festive creation is a gingerbread-flavoured Digestive.

McVitie’s said: ‘The Christmas Pudding & Gingerbread Digestives bring a new festive twist to the ever popular McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Digestive. Adding a sprinkling of Christmas cheer to the nation’s favourite, these festive Chocolate Digestives are perfect for dunking in your tea or leaving out for Rudolph and his friends.’

The Irish Daily Mail was tasked with tasting the new pudding bickies, but rather than bringing some badly needed early ‘Christmas cheer’, we were left feeling quite underwhelmed.

The biscuit didn’t taste like Christmas pudding – in fact, it tasted like a normal chocolate digestive, but a little sweeter.

However, while they may not be our cup of tea, the sweet treats do act as decent dunkers.

The new novelty biscuits caused a bit of a stir online, and given the new lockdown measures and more people indulging – and loosening their belts – they’re likely to divide households too.
