COURGETTE MANY WAYS

This week I’ll be eating... the last of our courgettes from the polytunnel. As temperatures drop, there are fewer actual fruits but the flowers will continue for a while and they are delicious when stuffed with feta or goat’s cheese and a few herbs, then baked briefly in the oven. I also cut the courgettes into chunks, salt them well and let them drain in a colander. Then I toss them with some cornflour and shallow-fry in olive oil. Not exactly chips, but much better for you!

A TASTE OF PARADISE?

I got a press release during week that says that the KitKat was recently voted Britain’s fifth favourite chocolate bar, a piece of news that had, frankly, passed me by. The real surprise, however, was that the KitKat, which has been around since 1935, was beaten by the Bounty Bar, something of which I’m very fond, especially the dark chocolate version. Whenever I mention this, people are inclined to say “yuck, coconut!” Maybe it’s an Irish thing?

It operates within 7km of the Monkstown and Ballsbridge branches, covering a lot of Dublin. You will need to eat early, though, as it operates 12 to 6pm daily. pouletbonnefemme.com
