Vogue: I breached no rules on work trip to Caribbean

- By Aoibhín Bryant

VOGUE Williams has broken her silence on reports she breached Covid-19 guidelines with a trip to St Bart’s this year.

The Irish model addressed the situation on Instagram after it emerged that she had travelled to the island in the French Caribbean during lockdown.

The mother of two was last seen in London on December 20 just as Tier Four restrictions had come into effect in the city.

Under the UK government’s guidelines for Tier 4, non-essential travel is prohibited in all circumstances.

Vogue, 35, defended her decision and stressed that she had not broken any Covid-19 regulations.

‘I would like to assure my lovely Instagram family that I have not broken the government guidelines since rules and guidance came into effect last March,’ she said.

‘I also had Covid tests to ensure I travelled safely and I adhered to all safety guidelines recommended.

‘It’s not ideal to be away working during these times but it had been booked in since last year.’ The pictures of Vogue jogging on the beach in St Bart’s came as the 35-year-old lamented the fact she has not been able to return to Ireland since the onset of the pandemic.

She said: ‘Christmas is going to be a bit different for us.

‘We were going to go to Ireland but I don’t think that we can make it back to I reland this year, which is a bit disappointing.

‘But we are going to see Spenny’s parents and have Christmas with them in St Bart’s, which is absolutely brilliant and we cannot wait to do.

‘Actually, we should point out that you have to get a Covid test 72 hours before you go and you have to get one when you get there and you have to get one two weeks after you’ve stayed and then you have to get one before you go home.

‘So there’s a lot of Covid tests involved but we’re able to do that.’

Her husband Spencer Matthews’ parents own the five-star Eden Rock resort on the sunshine island.
