LAURA WHITMORE has had many reasons to smile over the past year: she is expecting her first child, she’s married the man of her dreams, and now – in the icing on cake–she is officially a millionaire in her own right, the Irish Daily Mail can reveal.
For the television star, 35, has assets worth almost £1.4million, according to the latest set of accounts for her media company, Yer Wan Limited.
The accounts, filed to the UK’s Companies House, show that she has £1,383,135 in current assets.
These include £983,764 ‘ cash in bank’ and £399,371 in money she was owed.
The detailed set of publicly available accounts also show that the popular presenter has ‘retained earnings’ of £1,191,318 – up from £865,526 in 2019.
She also paid herself a salary of £253,811.
It’s a pretty penny indeed, and one which coincides with her replacing her late friend Caroline Flack as the host of reality TV show Love Island.
While her financial figure for the show has not been confirmed, as one of ITV’s most watched and talkedabout programmes, it is understood that she was offered ‘big money’ to helm the series.
She has also made massive sums from endorsements and social media deals on the back of fronting the summer show.
And the Bray native is not the only millionaire in her glitzy marriage.
Her new husband, comedian Iain Stirling, who is the voice of Love Island, also had a bumper year in life and in loot.
The Scot boosted assets in his company, Iain Stirling Limited, from £425,504 in 2019 to £966,220 in 2020.
That takes him well over the million mark.
Stirling is rumoured to be earning a six-figure sum for his gig with Love Island.
And a source close to the funnyman told the Mail that he makes ‘huge money’ from endorsements off the back of the show.
‘Even though he doesn’t even feature on the show, he is really appealing to brands,’ the source said.
‘He can charge thousands for endorsements and mentions. That’s really where he makes t he bulk of his money.’
Stirling’s successful business and earning potential have secured himself and Whitmore the moniker of ‘power couple’ as their combined popularity has helped make them alluring to brands and businesses.
The couple’s love story has been well-documented over recent months after they secretly tied the knot in a small ceremony at Dublin City Hall in November.
In keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, they wed in front of 25 guests with Laura’s half-brother Adam and Iain’s sister Kirsten as witnesses.
Shortly after their wedding, Laura announced that she was pregnant with their first child.
Taking to Instagram, she posted a picture of a Guns N’ Roses babygro emblazoned with the title of the rock band’s popular tune Sweet Child O’ Mine.
She wrote: ‘So I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life.
‘A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly.
‘However, I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share – and I’m gonna be honest it’s starting to look like my lock down beer belly is out of control.’
She added: ‘Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021. It’s been hard to keep such happy news quiet.
‘Especially the times when I’ve had to run out of live radio to get sick in a bin or my penchant for a bowl of mashed potato in t he morning.
‘I wasn’t hungover like everyone thought. In fact I was completely sober filming the entire series of Celeb Juice, which is quite the accolade!’
She continued: ‘We’d appreciate our privacy respected but just wanted to spread some love and a reminder of the beauty of life.’
The same week, the presenter made headlines for a racy photo shoot for Hunger Magazine. Posing in lingerie and a black leather coat, Whitmore posted the photos to Instagram with a call to ‘own your own narrative’.
She has previously revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in 2018.
She found out she had miscarried when doctors were unable to detect a heartbeat during her 12-week scan.
