Shaman ‘can’t eat non-organic jail food’
THE most recognisable member of the mob that stormed the US Capitol in Washington went on hunger strike in prison because the food was not organic.
Jake Chansley, 33, known as ‘the QAnon Shaman’, was seen amid the violent protests wearing face paint, no shirt and a large furry hat sporting horns.
After his mother Martha told reporters that her son ‘gets very sick if he doesn’t eat organic food’ a judge ordered his Arizona detention centre to give him special food.
A strictly organic diet was approved ‘on religious grounds’ by Judge Deborah Fine.
The FBI identified Chansley from his distinctive arm tattoos after he was pictured inside the Capitol and on the Senate dais carrying a US flag on a pole topped with a spear.
After handing himself in, Chansley, of Phoenix, Arizona, attended a court hearing by phone from detention yesterday.
His lawyer Gerald Williams told the judge that his client had been unable to eat since Saturday due to his restricted diet.
The part-time actor has not yet entered a plea on charges of entering a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct. He is among at least 90 people held after last Wednesday’s siege in the Capitol.
Court records showed that Chansley, who has long been a fixture at Trump rallies. called the FBI in Washington the day after the riot, telling investigators that he came to the nation’s capital ‘at the request of the President that all “patriots” come to DC’.
Action star Chuck Norris has denied being at the riot after a photo of a man resembling him began trending online. ‘This is not Chuck Norris,’ his manager Erik Kritzer said. ‘Chuck remains on his range in Texas.’
