Singer Lesley Maps out her road to glory at Eurovision

FANS have been praising Lesley Roy’s new Eurovision song entry, Maps, for Ireland for this year’s competitio­n as ‘even better than last year’.

Lesley new song was released by the competitio­n’s organisers yesterday morning.

Fans tuned in to listen to the catchy pop effort, as they watched Lesley navigating woodland area in the Wicklow Mountains in the strippedba­ck music video.

Listeners immediatel­y began to comment on the quality of the song, and the reaction appeared to be extremely positive.

One listener wrote: ‘Lesley never disappoint­s. This is even better than last year. I’m so proud of her.’ Another said: ‘Thats even better than Story of my life. Gotta love it when returning artists come back with an even better song. Good luck.’

Dubliner Lesley, from Balbriggan, will get her second chance to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam this May, following the cancellati­on of last year’s show due to the ongoing pandemic.

Speaking yesterday, Lesley said: ‘I’m thrilled to see through this project and represent Ireland at Eurovision 2021 with Maps.

‘I’m so happy with the song and so passionate about it and Eurovision.’

Roy is to perform in the first Eurovision semi final on Tuesday, May 18, at the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena, with the final held on Saturday, May 22.
